*Please note that some of the roles at Ragtag require for you to have a DBS, which Ragtag can do for you.
The ReMake team is made up of an amazing group of volunteers with additional needs, who volunteer across all areas at Ragtag. We are passionate about finding opportunities for everyone and believe in supporting people to reach their potential in a fun and supportive environment.
These groups meet on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
This project is funded by Freida Scott and the Stoller Trust (please note we have limited spaces for these opportunities).
We are looking for volunteers who would like to help support members of our ReMake team (see above). With support from our Remake Supervisor you would work alongside our volunteers supporting them with their tasks.
Ragtag believes in creating opportunities for people with additional needs, enabling them to learn new skills and to be part of our team. Volunteers who wish to work with this group need to see the value in this and have a passion to support their growth and belonging. Please be aware some of our Remake volunteers can have challenging behaviour or behaviour that may seem unusual to you (such as twitching, outburst of shouting ect). To volunteer with this group you need to be comfortable with this.
You will be supporting them to do tasks such as making up craft kits, sorting scraps, counting items into bags for the shop, sweeping etc.
You will be supporting them to do tasks such as creating our loose part trolleys, pallet products for the shop and general building maintenance.
Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays
We are also looking for volunteers to support participants in workshops including Youth arts, adult carnival sessions and family days.
*A DBS and reference are required for this role and you are required to volunteer regularly.
This is a amazing opportunity for someone starting out in ceramics and wants to learn some of the technical aspects.
Tasks will include:
Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays (min of 2 hours a week). You are also able to use the ceramic studio free for 2 hours a week.
Do you love to sort? We are looking for people to help sort all the wonderful donations we get onto our shelves, creating craft packs and prepping for workshops. In addition you can serve customers at the till or in the coffee shop.
Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays for as little as 2 hours or a full day.
Saturdays can be really busy at Ragtag, an extra pair of hands is always needed.
Tasks on a Saturday would include: support with Saturday makers (kids workshops); helping with children’s parties and serving customers on the till and in the cafe.
*A DBS and reference is required for this role.
Volunteering at festivals and events is a great way to gain experience and can be a lot of fun too!
Attending festivals and events across Cumbria and helping run creative activities and workshops alongside artists. Also helping prepare things such site decoration, workshop resources and examples in the studio.
If you would like to volunteer with events we will let you know as opportunities arise. For overnight festivals you will need to provide your own tent, camping equipment and food unless agreed otherwise. Most events run over weekends.
*A DBS and reference is required for this role and to be over 18.
Are you handy on a computer and able to support us with basic admin tasks? Tihs could include keeping our online shop, CRM system and till system up to date; uploading events to the ‘Whats on’ page and many other things.
Tuesday, Thursdays, Fridays or Saturdays for 2 hours.
Are you handy with wood? Can you help us to build our loose parts trolleys, make products to sell in the Scrapstore and help us to keep on top of building maintenance?
