Our Ceramic Studio is based at our Mealbank venue, just outside Kendal. The bright, spacious studio is equipped with a kiln, potter’s wheel and a selection of hand tools — providing a great space to be creative.
And there’s lots more to come! We’re developing the pottery space further, including plans for a fleet of pottery wheels. This will make membership more sociable, as well as allowing us to introduce a Throwing Club and one-off throwing workshops. So watch this space
Our Hand Building Clay Club runs term time and is perfect for beginners or anyone looking to build their confidence with clay. We’ll take you through a range of basic techniques, from coiling and slab building to shaping and decorating.
We also run a variety of half-day and full-day pottery workshops, exploring different techniques and creative projects. Whether you’re completely new to clay or looking to try something different, there’s plenty of opportunity to get stuck in and have a go.
Our pottery programme is growing! We’ll soon be offering 1:1 and group throwing sessions, Throwing Clay Club, Kids’ Clay Club and a daytime Clay Club.
Whether you’re completely new to throwing or already love working with clay, there’ll be something for you.

Our after-school Kids Clay Club is for primary school children who love getting stuck into clay! We’ll explore a mixture of pottery throwing and hand-building, giving children the chance to experiment, learn new skills and create some amazing things along the way.
Sessions run during term time and cost £10 per session, booked in half-termly blocks.

We run fun and creative ceramic parties at our venue in Kendal, where you can get stuck into clay and create your very own masterpiece — from piggy banks to mugs and everything in between!
And coming soon, we’ll be taking our parties to the next level with pottery throwing parties at our Mealbank studio. Get hands-on with the wheel and have a go at throwing your very own pots with your friends.

Membership gives you access to the Pottery to work independently on your own projects. Simply book your sessions via our Google Calendar – available 7 days a week from 9am to 9pm.
We offer two membership options, both with a minimum commitment of four months:
Includes 1 x 3 hour session per week
Includes 3 x 3 hour session per week
To join you will need some prior ceramics experience – such as completing a course at Ragtag or elsewhere, as no tuition is provided. These sessions are designed for self-directed making only.

Our electric kiln is available to hire for members and non members. Our kiln is located at our Mealbank venue, (LA8 9DL).
