Remake Scheme

Build Confidence, Learn New Skills, Belong

Ragtag is committed to inclusivity and empowering individuals through creativity. Our ReMake scheme embodies this mission by supporting volunteers with learning difficulties to gain skills, confidence and a sense of community.

The ReMake project at Ragtag Arts & Community Scrapstore empowers volunteers with additional needs to play a vital role in our daily operations. From running the scrapstore and assisting with admin to crafting, upcycling wood and more, they bring invaluable skills and enthusiasm to every task.

At ReMake, we believe in providing a supportive, inclusive environment where everyone can reach their full potential. We are privileged to work with an incredible group of individuals who bring joy, enthusiasm and boundless energy to Ragtag.

The ReMake project is a testament to what can be achieved when people are given the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to their community. Through ReMake, we are creating a space where everyone – regardless of ability – has the chance to thrive.

Transforming lives

ReMake Appeal

Our ReMake Appeal aims to secure vital funding to ensure its continued success, transforming lives and inspiring change – but we really need your help!

Supporting the ReMake Appeal is more than just funding a program — it’s a chance to invest in real change within our community.

With the ongoing generosity of the Freida Scott Trust, ReMake has been able to transform lives. But as funding becomes more competitive, we’re inviting local businesses to step in and be part of something powerful.

Partnering with ReMake is a meaningful way to demonstrate your commitment to social responsibility, community impact and positive change.

Every week, ReMake welcomes students from local schools such as Sandgate, Underly Gardens, Whinfell and Kendal College, as well as adults with learning difficulties, who volunteer with us independently.

At Ragtag, the tasks our volunteers take on are thoughtfully tailored to individual abilities — ensuring each activity is both achievable and rewarding. From sorting materials and organising the scrapstore to assisting with creative projects, every volunteer contributes meaningfully to our daily operations.

We have limited places available, so if you or someone you know would like to get involved, please get in touch!

I’ve been a volunteer here for 7 years, I feel part of the family here. It gives me responsibility. I feel important, I feel safe and sound, like home.
