The visit includes a guided tour, where students will learn about our sustainable practices, followed by the chance to get hands-on by sorting scrap and repurposing it – either back into the Scrapstore or into craft kits for future projects. You can also choose from three exciting workshops, each designed to engage students with important environmental issues.
This visit is a fantastic opportunity to inspire environmental awareness, spark creativity, and foster teamwork – empowering children to make a positive impact on the planet. All while meeting key learning outcomes in the National Curriculum.
Group Size: This session is ideal for groups of up to 20 children, making it perfect for small village schools with smaller year groups. Need transport? Talk to us about using our minibus to make the visit easier. For larger groups, please contact us to discuss the best options.
Cost: £325 (for a 3 hour session, you are welcome to bring your packed lunch with you)
Students will receive a selection of scrap materials and be challenged to design and prototype a brand-new craft kit. They’ll explore a variety of existing kits for inspiration and receive guidance on how to get started.
As part of the process, students will create instructions and package their kits – all using materials sourced from our Scrapstore. This hands-on activity encourages creativity, problem-solving, and practical design skills.
Students will be invited to create a short puppet show focused on an important environmental issue. They can choose from themes like “Reuse, Reduce, Recycle”, “Stop Littering,” “Don’t Flush It Down the Loo,” or “Save Water.”
This creative project encourages students to explore these topics through storytelling and puppetry, helping raise awareness while developing teamwork, communication, and artistic skills.
Do you have tablets in school? This workshop could be adapted to make stop motions videos using a free app.

In this workshop, students will explore how plastic pollution harms wildlife, looking at the scale of waste entering our oceans and its impact on animals.
Inspired by artist Sue Lipscombe, who created a giant whale from thousands of plastic bottles, students will design and build their own wildlife sculptures using reclaimed materials from our Scrapstore.
This session blends environmental education, creative thinking, and hands-on making, encouraging imaginative responses to urgent real-world issues.
